High Intensity Focused Ultrasound treatment
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound treatment (HIFU) is a non-invasive and mostly painless treatment that is considered by many to be a replacement for facelifts. HIFU helps to firm and tighten the skin, but it also helps with contouring. It uses a high energy ultrasound focusing treatment position to create heat at a deep level in the skin and lift the skin via high-speed friction cells to stimulate collagen remodelling and elastin fibre contraction, overall resulting in firmer and more youthful skin.
Such heat will not harm the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin) because the treatment is quick and has direct access to the treatment site within 0-0.5 seconds, without touching the surrounding tissue and can be passed directly to the superficial tendon membrane system (SMAS), so it can be done to firm the skin while pulling the muscle layer.
SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) is a layer of connective tissue membrane that is widely covered under the dermis which connects fat and facial superficial muscle, extends and consolidates the bone of the face, closely connects epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue together, and these layers structures form the facial contour supports the integrity of skin, muscles and bone.
There are no incisions, no scarring, and only a 1 week required rest or recovery time. It is also far less expensive than a facelift.
This treatment is mainly used for overall skin sagging, wrinkles, too much skin ageing, reshaping the facial curve, effectively improving the eye region and neck tissue relaxation, and ptosis.
